Career Medical is working with a large Public Hospital situated in the Northern Territory seeking a Rheumatologist Staff Specialist for a full time position.
About the Position:
As a Rheumatologist, you will be working closely with the Immunologist under the Division of Medicine (DOM). The DOM consists of 5 core General Medicine inpatient management teams supported by a compliment of sub-specialty units, surgical sub-specialties and a busy Intensive Care Unit.Multisystem lupus, vasculitis, inflammatory myopathy and arthritis’s often present in the context of infections blending Rheumatology and medicine to provide a rich learning experience. This is the clinical setting where you can make a difference, particularly in indigenous health outcomes
About the Hospital:
The hospital is a major teaching hospital located in the NT. Rheumatology/Immunology is a busy and active unit supported at present by a full time Physician Rheumatologist and a Physician Immunologist, a non-core advanced Rheumatology/Immunology trainee and a clinical nurse. There is excellent on site radiology support including musculoskeletal (MSK) radiologist, a day care unit (for administration of IVIG, biologics, bisphosphonates etc) and administration staff. The hospital has 345 beds servicing a population of over 140,000 it is a diverse population including urban, regional and remote centres. The Australian Indigenous population in the area makes up 27%, but approaching 50% of all hospital inpatients. The hospital located in the largest city in the Northern Territory and is close to South East Asia. The tropical climate enables you to enjoy an outdoor lifestyle whilst experiencing some of Australia’s finest outback.
